SC & ST Cell
Introduction
Panskura Banamali College (Autonomous) has an active SC & ST Cell formed in accordance with Government guidelines to support students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The Cell works to safeguard their rights, provide academic and administrative assistance, and promote inclusive participation in institutional activities. The Cell reflects the college’s commitment to equity and social justice.
Objectives
The major objectives of the SC & ST Cell are:
- To ensure equal opportunities for SC & ST students
- To provide information and guidance related to scholarships, stipends and welfare schemes
- To address grievances in a time-bound manner
- To promote an inclusive environment within the campus
- To monitor implementation of reservation policies and support services
Composition
Functions and Activities
The SC & ST Cell undertakes various initiatives that include:
- Registration and documentation of SC & ST students
- Counseling, mentoring and academic support
- Assistance in filling scholarship forms and obtaining benefits
- Awareness programmes on Government schemes, career opportunities and rights
- Coordination with departments, office and government agencies
- Organising motivational talks, special lectures and remedial classes where required
A complaint mechanism is available to address issues related to discrimination, harassment or academic difficulties.
Support and Facilities
The Cell provides the following support services:
- Information desk for scholarship and financial aid
- Guidance through dedicated faculty members
- Monitoring of attendance, progress and welfare
- Facilitation of hostel admission where applicable
- Continuous interaction with students to understand concerns
SC & ST students are encouraged to participate in academic, cultural and sports activities.

The SC & ST Cell maintains:
- Records of beneficiaries of scholarships and schemes
- Minutes of meetings and activity reports
- Grievance registers and follow-up actions
- Annual reporting through the IQAC and college administration
